She throws copies of the Burn Book pages all over the school, revealing the insults about everyone they know, except Karen, Gretchen, and Cady (“World Burn”). Janis and Damian see an insult in the book that only Cady could have written about him. At a required assembly about the Burn Book, Ms. Norbury tries to bring the girls together. Janis explains her philosophy to the school, referencing her failed friendships with both Cady and Regina; empowering the girls to stand up for themselves (“I’d Rather Be Me”).

• “What’s Wrong With Me?” is Gretchen’s chance to express her insecurities and how much she seeks Regina’s approval.
• This leads Gretchen to reveal Regina’s secret hook-ups with football player Shane Oman, among other vengeful acts (“Revenge Party”).
• The next day, Aaron tells Cady that his previous relationship with Regina made him feel like he was not himself; he has sworn off of dating.

The true purpose of the number is for Regina to win Aaron back and betray Cady’s trust, which she does successfully by the end. “What Ifs” by Angourie Rice – Immediately after the conclusion of the first Mean Girls song, the movie transitions to Africa and has Angourie Rice perform Cady’s first song. It is intercut in the movie with Cady’s mom telling her that they are moving to America. This allows “What Ifs” to showcase Cady’s life in Africa and the beginning of her first high school experience. I have lots of friends who have been forwarding me TikToks and tweets of people who are commenting on the movie. So a watered-down version of all the social engagement, filtering any negativity, has made its way to me through my friends.

Regina discovers Cady’s crush on Aaron and, in a fit of jealousy, flirts with Aaron before kissing him in front of Cady. Realizing Janis was right about Regina, she agrees to commit to her plan to ruin her reputation. The movie follows Janis as she sings about being herself rather than pretending to be someone else and interacting with different classmates, only for it to end with Regina being hit by a bus. “Kevin G Rap” by Mahi Alam & Ensemble – The talent show provides another Mean Girls song not on the soundtrack thanks to Kevin G. He performs the same rap featured in the original 2004 movie until Principal Duvall stops him for being inappropriate. “What’s Wrong With Me?” by Bebe Wood – Gretchen gets a solo song in Mean Girls once she and the rest of the Plastics go to Regina’s house. She finds an old music box that she gave to Regina in her closet and immediately breaks into song.

Broadway (2018–

The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed over $104 million worldwide against a $36 million budget. “Revenge Party” by Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, Angourie Rice, Tim Meadows & Cast of Mean Girls – The next song in Mean Girls brings most of the cast together. “Revenge Party” begins as Janis and Damian tell Cady how they could get revenge on Regina. It transitions into a brightly colored fantasy musical number set at the high school. This means it is essentially a dream scenario at first, but the song continues as their revenge mission starts, showing them trying to torment Regina and it backfiring.

The song can be heard playing at the Spring Fling dance at North Shore. This allows it to transition from a small, quiet song to a big and loud musical performance for Reneé Rapp featuring many of the insults from the Burn Book. “Someone Gets Hurt” by Reneé Rapp – One of the standout song and dance sequences in 2024’s Mean Girls comes with “Someone Gets Hurt.” Regina’s song happens during the Halloween party after she begins talking to Aaron and he upsets her.

When Regina storms out in anger and disbelief, Cady tries to apologize, but Regina gets distracted and hit by a passing school bus. Following Gretchen and Karen’s advice, Cady throws a party in an attempt to get Aaron to come over. When Aaron shows up, they sneak off to her bedroom, where Cady tells him the “funny” story about how she pretended that she was dumb to make him like her.

The Marvel movies releasing in 2024 offer a range of film experiences – and some confusion, due to the changed dates of several incoming installments. The new cast of Mean Girls has brought the story of the classic film to a new generation, but it also brought together two of 2016’s biggest stars. “No Dey Tire” by Lord Afrixana – “No Dey Tire” is the second song heard during Cady’s party.
